When I talked about the wormholes, I slipped a few word about the
theorem of the multiverse. Now I will try to explain it, but don't
expect too much. As I said once: I am not a physicist(I had to research
for a few definition to make sure I wasn't mistaken).

Actualy, it's not a theorem, but many that are regrouped in a single
field of research. Since almost nothing proove the existance of
parallelle universe, It is one of those very rare field of research that
arbor more theory than fact. Because of the lack of fact and proof,
many theorem have emerge, all following the known rules(both natural and
quantum) and allow the existance of the few fact they have. It's like
swiming in murky water, you can find a few thing but can't see them, and
unless you can clear the water, you can only speculate on the
connection between each of them(very complex, please don't ask).

The first model I will explain is the most known(and the most used in
Sci-Fi): The Many-world interpretation of quantum mechanics. Big name,
but easy to explain. It start simply, at the beginning of the universe.
Everything that happen can bring various result, and each of those
result open a new "branch" or "way"(to keep it simple). Each way can
lead to the creation of a new universe or to variation of it. We live
at the end of a long branch coming from the center of the "time tree"(in
lack of a better interpretation), and our action, as litlle as they can
be, all open a new path for the time to flow(a new variation of our
universe). This model can be explained simply but is far more complex
than it look, because everything can change the final outcome(like the
butterfly effect).

Second: the Cyclic theory. This model is also easy to explain. Try to
picture a slinky, every loop represent the universe from its creation to
its destruction in an endless cycle. Each cycle are very near of each
other but never touch. Since each destruction lead to a new
creation(and vice-versa), the universe total mass never change, keeping
the cycle stable(in theory). By warping the time and space, it could be
possible to reach those other universe, all of them very different from
ours. With this model only two universe can be easily reached, and
since they can be very different, the very rule of physics could be
different, leading to major hazards(possibly very dangerous).

Third: The M-theory. A multi-dimensionnal extension of the string
theory(Don't ask, PLEASE, don't ask). This model is complex(or at
least, the way they explain it is). Unless I am mistaken, its model
make our universe look like a bubble in a bubble bath, or a grain of
sand on a sandbeach. Each of them exist near the others but doesn't
interact with each other, exept through gravity. Before you get the
wrong idea, there is not another universe at the extreme limit of our
universe(not physicaly), but somehow we are near many universe on a
quantum level. As I said, very complex, and this is only the part I
have been able to understand.

Many other model exist, most of them too complex for me right now. It
would be impossible to explain them in common word(mainly because I
don't understand them). It's in time like this that I regret not
following my parents advice and go away from a scientific career Wheel of Topics #16 Yellowsigh (just before remembering that working in a lab is boring Wheel of Topics #16 Yellowbiggrin ).
